Need a few reasons to buy a Playstation 3? Well the first and foremost reason is that the PS3 is second to none as a Blu-ray player. Not good enough? Then here are a few games that will knock your socks off.
God of War III
Greek and Roman mythology has been a staple in popular culture since its very creation. Whether one decided just to read about the Gods' interactions as they are written, or decided to create new tales (such as Homer’s Odyssey) mankind has been infatuated with the complex relationships these immortal beings have. The God of War series brings these oft used characters to a whole new generation in a brand new medium, the video game. God of War III takes the series to a whole new hyper-realistic level, as well as fixing the cliffhanger left by the previous two games.
Gran Turismo V
Few series have shaped the very foundation of their genre as Gran Turismo has. Gran Turismo V is the latest installment in this racing simulator, a simulator highly touted as the premier title of its kind. The latest installment in this series uses the Playstation 3‘s graphical capabilities to their fullest, while also fully exploring the boundaries given to it on the Blu-ray disc. The game boasts thousands of cars, trucks, and go-karts, along with hundreds of highly detailed tracks. Add in the ability to customize and improve each car, and Polyphony Digital has itself a winner.
Little Big Planet 2
Prizes, prizes, and more prizes. This is what Little Big Planet 2 boasts in its platform style game design. Whether your braving Mario-style gaps, or trouncing on blue-buttoned enemies, prizes and points are there to be won. This game comes with a limited amount of pre-made levels, however this is remedied by its sandbox-style level creator. Each player has the ability to build their own level with a set amount of pre-ordained items, as well as those previous prizes earned from playing other levels.
Demon's Souls
Hard-core gamers only. This game is brutal and unforgiving. If one is looking for a happy go lucky frolic, one must look somewhere else (may I suggest the previous title?) as this game is anything but that. On par with dungeon crawlers, this game incorporates hack-n-slash game play with RPG style leveling to create a uniquely difficult experience. If one is able to brave the many treacherously terrifying enemies to reach the final boss, than a profound sense of accomplishment is in store.
Infamous
This action-adventure game offers one the ability to experience a “bone-chilling occurrence that leads a man to super powers” story firsthand. With a blend of action and story along with the ever popular good/evil choices, Infamous found a formula that works. One has the ability to use one's powers for the betterment of mankind, the detriment of mankind, or as a confused soul that helps and hurts at the same time. Each choice effects ones karma, which in turn effects ones moves, so replay-ability is inherently built in.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of the games that the PS3 has to offer. There are many other games that are not only Playstation exclusive, but games that are shared between consoles that one can buy. The system has a plethora of wonderful features to explore, but don’t take my word for it, go out and enjoy it for yourself!
